On July 1st, Terry McPartlan from Tyne & Wear Centre Against Unemployment (TWCAU), will be part of our Question Time South Tyneside @ Boldon panel. Here's a quick overview of the work they do.
Campaigning against unemployment, the TWCAU charity supports unemployed people in the Tyne and Wear region to improve their life chances by offering advice, guidance and representation to those in contact with the Welfare Benefits system. Working with the Newcastle Fund, Newcastle Council's discretionary grant fund for voluntary and community sector organisations, they have developed the Claimant Representation Project, running regular courses on:
Understanding not only the economic and social consequences but also the impact of unemployment on physical and mental health, TWCAU network with other sector organisations to develop projects for individuals and communities dealing with unemployment.
